Church Partnership Story Social Media Posts
At the beginning of March I began a Trauma Healing Bible study with the pastors wives. In the world today, many people have experienced war, ethnic conflict, floods, car accidents, domestic abuse, or crime. Many of them have been wounded inside by these things. The Church should be helping its members who are suffering (Acts 20:28) as well as being light and salt in the world. This particular Bible Study is intended to help people recover from trauma and loss. It is particularly focused on helping the local church respond to hurting people in a way that is helpful, rather than harmful. Each lesson presents what the Bible and mental health best practices teach about how to heal from trauma. The intent of this Bible Study is that after the pastor wives go through the material that they themselves will go around and teach it in their churches and other churches too.

In March, Emmanuel from DOOR International in Ghana came and visited us. Emmanuel and DOOR are passionate about making disciple makers among the Deaf all over the world.
We invited Emmanuel to come to a gathering of some of our young Togolese leaders to share his story of becoming deaf as a child and how Jesus saved him.
The young leaders were locked in as Emmanuel shared his story. The questions and comments that were made were so encouraging. Several of the leaders asked if they could learn Sign Language so they could communicate with the Deaf that they encounter.
We are praying that the hearing and the Deaf would be able to work together to see the Great Commission fulfilled in Togo and beyond. This experience felt like a big step in that direction and we can’t wait to see what God does in the days to come!

One of our church pastors, Etien, has recently been showing his huge heart and passion for kid's ministry by exploring new curriculum and ways to more effectively reach this next generation with the gospel. When I asked him what sparked this eager intentionality, he shared with me how Jonas, his mentor and the pastor who helped raise him up as a leader and who passed away due to Covid, always talked about the value of children and how we must prioritize teaching them the gospel as they will be the ones who continue to carry it forward. It is so encouraging to see the practice of developing transformational leaders play out in Etien's life as he has been built up through discipleship and is now a voice and advocate for the development and discipleship of future generations.

Eve, Esther and Bernadette have started prepping for kids curriculum, I have given them the verses that the lesson is based on, then they go and study the verses, pick a name of God that they see in the verses and then prepare a lesson with a memory verse to go along with it. We have been doing this over the last couple of weeks. We have also started conversations of who they see as the next upcoming leaders and how they can shape them now. One of the kids they said is Angelo, he is an 11 year old that I do Bible study with, the past couple of weeks his prayer request has been to become a leader. I asked him what his next step could be on becoming a leader and he said to pray and ask God to help him. I am super excited to see how God is going to continue to grow and develop him and his sister Tina who also is also eager to study God’s word and grow in her ability to lead others and guide them to Christ.
